Benefits of Exercise and Chiropractic Therapy

Chiropractic care is considered to be a holistic approach to healthcare. It is a noninvasive way of correcting posture, eliminating pain, and prevent future issues. However, chiropractic adjustments are not the only piece of this type of treatment. Lifestyle changes and exercise enhance your chiropractic visits. How? Let’s take a look.

Types of Exercises to Pair with Chiropractic

There are dozens of different exercises your chiropractor may recommend for you. Why? Because specific exercises can help to target the zones you need the most help with. Exercise, when paired with chiropractic therapy, help to improve your confidence, empower you, reduce pain, and increased flexibility and functionality.

  • Pelvic Lift: The pelvic lift helps you to tighten your abdominals. To perform a pelvic lift, lie on your back, with your feet flat on the floor as close to your butt as possible. This will naturally leave your knees bent and pointing upwards. (Make sure you keep your knees together, but to not clench them.) Tighten your abdomen and butt in order to flatten your lower back evenly with the floor. Slowly, lift your hips from the floor, continuing to keep your abdomen and butt tight.
  • Superman: Supermans help to strengthen your entire back. Lie flat, with your stomach on the floor. Your arms and legs should be outstretched but relaxed. Lift your arms, head and legs off the floor, flexing your shoulders, back and butt as your do so. Hold your position for 10 seconds before releasing and slowly lowering yourself back to the floor. (An advanced variation of this will have you “swimming” in the air. Lift and lower the opposite arms and legs in a sequence that mimics swimming.)
  • Lumbar Rotation: The lumbar rotation helps to strengthen your core while stretching your back. Start with laying flat, with your back on the ground. Your legs should be bend, with your feet flat on the floor. Slowly, rotate both knees to the left. If possible, rotate until your knee touches the ground. Hold this for 10 seconds before rotating back to the center. Repeat this sequence on the other side.
